Starter: 2006–2007 Civic 1.8L, manual
Manual-transmission 1.8L Civics use a Denso starter. 2006 cars use 31200-RNA-A01. Honda changed the number during 2007, so a 2007 car can have either; match the number on your old starter.

How the job goes
- Disconnect the negative battery cable first. The starter's main cable is live at all times.
- Locate the starter where the engine meets the transmission.
- Unplug the small signal wire and remove the nut holding the main battery cable to the starter.
- Remove the two mounting bolts and lift the starter out.
- Compare the old and new starters (mounting ears, gear, and terminal) before installing.
- Install the new starter, torque the mounting bolts, reconnect both wires, then reconnect the battery.
Before you order
- Confirm torque specs and access steps in a service manual for your car; some trims need the intake or air box moved for room.
- Rebuilt starters usually carry a core charge. Return the old one to get it back.
- A weak battery or corroded cable can look like a bad starter. Have the battery and cables tested first.
