How the job goes
- Loosen the lug nuts, raise the truck, support it on jack stands, and remove the wheels.
- Remove the caliper bolts and lift the caliper off. Hang it with wire; don't let it hang by the hose.
- Remove the old pads and clips. Clean the bracket where the clips sit.
- Install the new clips (from the kit) and pads, with any wear indicator in the same position as the old one.
- Push the caliper piston back slowly, watching that the brake fluid reservoir doesn't overflow.
- Reinstall the caliper and wheels, pump the pedal until it's firm before you drive, then bed in the new pads.
Before you order
- Confirm caliper and lug nut torque in a service manual for your truck.
- Check rotor thickness and condition; worn or scored rotors should be replaced or resurfaced with new pads.
- Fits the 2013–2018 Ram 1500 (DS). The 2019+ redesigned Ram 1500 uses different brakes; 2019+ "Classic" models aren't covered here yet.
- Mopar's 2013 listing notes rear axle codes (DMC, DMD, DMF, DMH). If your truck has a different axle, confirm fitment by VIN.
