How the job goes
- Warm the engine briefly, park on level ground, and shut it off.
- Unscrew the filter housing cap on top of the engine and pull out the old element and O-ring(s).
- Drain the oil (or extract it through the dipstick tube if that's how your engine is serviced).
- Fit the new element and the new O-ring(s) from the kit, lightly oiled; tighten the cap to the torque on the cap or in the service manual.
- Refill with an approved oil grade and amount from your owner's manual, run the engine, and check for leaks.
Before you order
- Check your owner's manual for the approved oil specification and capacity.
- The 2012 F30 328i has a 2.0L turbo and uses a different filter (11427953125). Check your engine size.
