Cross-checked across multiple sources

Alternator: 2005–2015 Tacoma 4.0L V6

The 4.0L V6 Tacoma came with one of two Denso alternators: 100 amp or 130 amp. For 2005–2009, Denso lists the 100-amp unit as "excludes towing package", so tow-package trucks have the 130-amp one. For 2010–2015 it isn't stated. Check the amp rating on your old alternator's label before ordering.

Output options
100A (210-1113 / 27060-0P030) or 130A (210-1084 / 27060-0P020)
Rotation
Clockwise (both)

How the job goes

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. The alternator's main terminal is live at all times.
  2. Release the belt tensioner and slip the serpentine belt off the alternator.
  3. Unplug the connector and remove the nut on the main (B+) terminal. Photograph the wiring first.
  4. Remove the mounting bolts and lift the alternator out.
  5. Compare old and new: amp rating, pulley, connector, and terminal. Some rebuilt units come without a pulley.
  6. Install the new alternator, reconnect the wiring, refit the belt, reconnect the battery, and confirm about 13.5–14.5V at idle.

Before you order

  • 100A and 130A units are different parts. Order the one that matches your old alternator's label.
  • A bad battery, loose cable or poor ground can look like a bad alternator. Have the charging system tested first.
  • Not for the 2.7L 4-cylinder, which uses a different alternator.
